AROUND
SHADOWLAND River LODGE
There are many activities to enjoy around Shadowland River Lodge. Fly Fishing right outside the cabin for one. No need to go any further than your front door. Just a few miles west down Supply Road you'll have access to the VASA Mountain Bike Trail. Maybe horse back riding is more your thing - Ranch Rudolf is just 3 miles down Brown Bridge Road. They also provide canoe trips down the Boardman River.
FLY FISHING THE BOARDMAN
The Boardman River starts near Kalkaska, Michigan and flows into the west arm of Grand Traverse Bay near Traverse City. It is called Traverse Lake just above the Bay. Two branches, the North and South Branch of the Boardman River, form the main stream at the little
villages of Kalkaska and South Boardman.
The upper section has some very good dry fly fishing.
As you will see in our hatches section of this site, the
river has a good population of many different species of
aquatic insects.
Shadowland River Lodge is located at what's called the "forks," where the North and South branches converge into one larger river.
For advice and tips on fishing the Boardman River, we suggest you reach out to the crew over at The Northern Angler in downtown Traverse City. www.TheNorthernAngler.com
